FULL DESCRIPTION
For three generations the Riascos family have been creating fine rums in Columbia, sourcing only the best raw spirits from distilleries around the Caribbean. They age the rum in American oak, ex-Bourbon casks for up to 21 years. La Hechicera is the result of a labour intensive blending process that not only demands knowledge and craft but also a good deal of intuition. Master Blender, Giraldo Mituoka Kagana, uses his holistic understanding of the barrel, atmosphere, spirit and time to produce a consistent product from rums aged between 12 and 21 years.

TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Deep Bronze.
Nose: Coffee and vanilla with hints of dried mint.
Taste: Cinnamon, black pepper and stewed plums.
Finish: Tabacco and leather with lingering chocolate and coconut notes.
Overall: Rich, elegant rum that withholds on being overly decadent.

Gift

La Hechicera is an excellent rum for any Scotch whisky drinker looking to branch out. With a complex profile, it succeeds in not being overly sweet or sticky, maintaining a drier mouthfeel. Very much a Spanish style rum, fans of Cuban rums will also appreciate this.

Rum is a spirit made exclusively by fermenting sugarcane or its by-products, these being molasses and sugarcane juice. There are no real rules when it comes to rum production making it a very large and varied category. The process of making this spirit is a combination of fermentation and distillation.
