Description

FULL DESCRIPTION
Tequila Ocho Reposado has been aged for 64 days (8 weeks, 8 days), just over the legal minimum for the reposado category. The barrels used for ageing are former American Whiskey barrels that have been “fatigued” (i.e. filled with tequila a number of times) in order to provide a pleasant balance between agave flavours and wood notes. All agaves used for Ocho are Single Estate (owned by the Camarena family) and are harvested later than average, resulting in high sugar and high acidity levels.

TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Very pale straw.
Nose: Peach, earthy nutmeg and tapenade.
Taste: Pineapple and crŹme bržlŽe with hints of cooked artichoke.
Finish: Pumpkin spice and fresh honey with light notes of white pepper.
Overall: Well integrated flavours leading to an exceptionally complex tequila.

Gift

This expression is perhaps the most versatile of the Ocho range, it works equally well as a sipping tequila and for use mixing as the base of a cocktail.

Tequila Ocho is the first ever tequila (and one of the few spirits in the world) to designate the specific field from which the agaves were sourced, as well as the year of harvest. Each batch of Ocho uses agaves harvested from just one single field at a time (think single-vineyard wines), demonstrating the existence of terroir in agave growing and tequila production. Ocho is the brainchild of Tomas Estes (Official Tequila Ambassador to the EU) and Carlos Camarena (third generation Master Distiller at La Alteña, Carlos is one of the most respected Master Distillers in Mexico). Ocho uses traditional processes that would have been similar to the methods used by Carlos’s grandfather in 1937 when the distillery was founded. It is a 100% agave tequila, and is also 100% additive-free; each and every bottle of Ocho produced contains only 3 ingredients: blue agave, natural spring water, and yeast.
