The northern-most of all Scotch distilleries, Highland Park is located on the Orkney Islands just north of the Scottish mainland. The 12-year-old is a harmony of sweetly honeyed heather, rich dried fruits and warming smoke.
Appearance: Glowing amber.
Nose: Sweet and inviting honey and red fruit.
Taste: Heather, zesty fruitcake and salted caramel.
Finish: Cinnamon, white pepper and honey lead to lingering smoke.
Overall: There is a ton of flavour and character here without anything being too overbearing.
You don’t want to call this whisky cheap because it’s far from it, but you won’t find anything that delivers on its dollar as well as the Highland Park 12 does. Very accessible, the smoke is warming and inviting as to welcome the pallette.
If the person you’re buying for is a fan of the Highland Park 12 you could also try Talisker 18, Bunnahabhain 12 or Old Pulteney 12.

ABOUT THE DISTILLERY

ABOUT THE LIQUID
If you want a whisky that will never fail to deliver look no further, whisky connoisseur Michael Jackson (no, not that one) named Highland Park’s 12-year-old ‘the greatest all-rounder in the world of malt whisky’.
