Gift

Many people turn-tail and head for the hills when they hear someone mention Chartreuse, but it’s made in the hills so they’re really going the wrong way. Green Chartreuse is a key ingredient in many classic cocktails. Show-off to your friends by whipping up some refreshing Last Word cocktails, but maybe hold off mentioning Chartreuse until they are asking you for their second or third!

RECOMMENDATIONS
If the person you’re buying for is a fan of the Chartreuse, you could also try Absenteroux, Rinquinquin or Nardini Bitter.

Connoisseur

The oldest liqueur in the world, crafted from a manuscript dating back to 1605, Chartreuse comes from a monastery in the mountains near Grenoble. Green Chartreuse is the only liqueur in the world with a natural vivid green hue. Only two Carthusian monks know the identity of the 130 plants, how to blend them and how to distil them into this world famous liqueur. They are also the only ones who know which plants they must macerate to produce the natural green and yellow colours, and they alone supervise the slow ageing in oak casks. Yellow Chartreuse, on the other hand, created in 1838 uses additional spices such as honey and saffron.
