Review: Cocktails in the City Summer Edition

The weekend of the 3rd and 4th August saw TT head over to Cocktails In The City - the nation’s leading cocktail event, specialising in bringing cocktail lovers and the country’s best bars and brands together under one roof.

TT Liquor

Twenty-four of London’s finest cocktail institutions and over 2,500 cocktail connoisseurs stopped by, and we’re proud to have been included in the mix.

For the occasion, we collaborated with Kentucky-based bourbon Maker’s Mark on our bar menu. Their liquid featured heavily in two out of our three serves, with the third serve being a mocktail.

‘What Do Horses Eat?’

First up was this number, which we dubbed ‘What Do Horses Eat?’. A hearty measure of Maker’s Mark formed it’s base, to which we added Oat Chata Syrup, Lemon Juice & a dash of El Guapo Bitters to create a perfectly-balanced summer-ready serve.

‘Maker’s Julep’

Next was the ‘Maker’s Julep’, our subtle twist on the Kentucky classic. Maker’s Mark’s bourbon again featured, and so too did that most usual of suspects, mint leaves, and it was all topped off with a bit of Sekforde Whisky Soda.

Finally, because mixed drinks are about much more than just alcohol and it was important to stay hydrated in the sweltering heat of the day, we put together a beautifully refreshing long drink – the Big Red. It was a bitter-sweet mixture of Lemon Juice, Fresh Raspberries, Lemon & Cardamum Syrup, and Soda. Fresh.

‘Big Red’

Not only this, we opened up the bartending duties to the masses as we took our masterclasses on the road and celebrated the London summertime by pitching up in the al-fresco surroundings of Cocktails in the City in London’s finest private Georgian gardens in Bedford Square.

Attendees took part in a tailored version of our cocktail making classes, whereby they were asked to make a classic cocktail while adding their own personal twist on it – and they certainly rose to our challenge to ‘Be the Bartender’, with over 100 budding mixologists taking part over the two days.

A big thank you to everyone who came down to shake up a storm with us over the weekend – we hope our masterclasses went down just as well as our cocktail creations and that you learnt a thing or two. ‘Til next time.

If you missed out on last weekend’s festivities, never fear for you can get the full TT Liquor experience by either booking into our subterranean Cellar Bar and sampling our extensive cocktail list, or by booking yourselves in to one of our public masterclasses – held here at our Shoreditch home every Friday and Saturday.
