Using your Mexican elbow and your jigger to measure, squeeze 25ml of lemon juice and add it to the shaker.

Fill your shaker with cubed ice and seal with your Boston tin or lid, before shaking vigorously for 10-15 seconds or until your tin is very cold.

Use your Hawthorne strainer to strain your cocktail into your waiting rocks glass.

Fill your glass with crushed ice and pile on top, using your hand to form it into a dome.

Drizzle the creme de mure through the crushed ice into your cocktail, and garnish with a blackberry and a mint sprig.

Serve and enjoy!

History

This cocktail was created in 1984, by Dick Bradsell at Fred’s Club in Soho for a quintessential British palate. Dick Bradsell, who is sometimes called “the King of Cocktails” shook up the London bar scene in the 80’s and brought the city to the forefront of the bar scene. His signature cocktail: the Bramble is a mixture of Gin, Crème de Mure, lemon juice, sugar and fresh blackberries.

Dick Bradesell was a legendary bartender still regarded today as innovating London bar culture and pulling it out of the world of fluorescent drinks made with pre mixed ingredients. He made bartenders use fresh juices and fruits and served classic cocktails.

Before Dick there weren’t the array of liqueurs and sugar syrups for sale there are today. He has invented more cocktails now considered to be modern classics than any other bartender working today. Bartenders all over the world, whether they know it or not have Dick to thank. All over the world, people drink Espresso Martinis with utter abandon, this has to be one of his most popular cocktails. He was an advocate of double straining drinks, something not widely done at the time. Bradsell influenced a generation of bartenders and continues to do so, training some of the biggest names in the bar world today.
