Gin and Chocolate Tasting w/ Chef Annamarie

Celebrate the summer as we taste, sip, and enlighten our palates in the most luxurious of fashions.

We’re proud to be hosting a decadent evening of Fairtrade chocolate and gin with two of East London’s foremost foodie experts.

Chef Annamarie, master chocolatier and expert on all things chocolate-related, will be heading to our Shoreditch home to collaborate with our resident spirits master Jake Rogers. Together, using their joint expertise, they will be your learned tasting guides for the evening.

After enjoying a refreshing gin cocktail, guests will embark on an educational voyage charting the journey of chocolate – from bean-to-bar – as well as the processes that lie behind small-batch craft gin production.

This will involve a tasting of four single-origin chocolates, paired off with four distinctive gins.

Jake will then guide guests through the process of blending their very own unique strain of gin, using fresh botanicals, to take home with you come the session’s end.

Unique gins in hand, attendees will then get a demonstration of how to make a gin-based ganache at home, from start to finish.

After the cooking demo it’s time to turn chocolatier and get a little messy. Working in pairs, guests will roll and coat their freshly prepared ganache into a dozen 70% dark chocolate truffles.

Finally, truffles made, guests will get to wrap up their decadent creations to take home and enjoy (provided you haven’t eaten them all then and there!).

Arrival – Guests will arrive by 7pm through the doors of our liquor store, where they will be greeted with a gin-based welcome cocktail before being led upstairs to our West Wing banqueting table.

Tasting – Once seated, attendees will be guided by their hosts through a tasting of four different single origin chocolates, and four gins – learning about the histories and processes behind each as they go.

The Hands-On Bit – Tuition over, it’s time for our guests to put their knowledge to the test. First, they will be challenged to blend their very own unique strain of gin to take home with them, using fresh botanicals. Afterwards, attendees will put their chef’s hats on – rolling and dusting their very own truffles to take away come the session’s end.

Afters – Hand-made truffles, recipe cards, and personalised gin strain in hand, guests will be invited to make their way down into our Cellar Bar where they can sample our extensive bar menu. Reservations recommended, although not mandatory.
